Good afternoon Southland Family,

We are proud to celebrate a historic achievement for our E-Sports program!
At the IHSA Sectional competition, Southland Junior Ryan White captured the IHSA Sectional Championship for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Singles, earning the title of Sectional Champion and advancing to the IHSA State Tournament. This is a major milestone for our program and a testament to Ryan’s skill, focus, and competitive excellence.

Ryan will compete at the IHSA State Finals at Evergreen Park High School on Saturday, May 2nd, becoming the first Southland E-Sports competitor in program history to reach the State Finals!

In addition to this outstanding accomplishment:

• Rocket League Team, in its first time competing at Sectionals, placed 5th overall
• Madden competitors Jaden Foster and Romello Martinez both tied for 5th place

We would also like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Coaches Erica Bartley and Xavier Gutter for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to our student competitors and the continued growth of the E-Sports program.

We are incredibly proud of all of our students and their accomplishments.  Let’s show our support as Ryan represents Southland on the state stage!
